If you are a US citizen or taxable person in the United States, you cannot open an Invested Money Box. In short, we do not accept users who are US citizens, residents of, or taxable persons in the United States (known as a ‘US person’ for purposes of the FATCA definition).
But what does it mean to be considered a ‘US person’ in legal terms? Here are some cases:
· You are a U.S. citizen (even if you have dual citizenship);
· You are a U.S. resident, hold a Green Card, or have Substantial Presence in the United States (as defined by U.S. law);
· You were born in the U.S. or a U.S. territory
· You are a U.S. tax person for other reasons
